A New Jersey resident has died from West Nile virus, one of eight cases that have been reported this season in the state, officials said.

Seven of the eight cases involved neurological illness, the state Department of Health said in a statement. Six of the patients have been hospitalized.

Four cases were in Bergen County, including the person who died. Three cases were reported in Middlesex County and one in Camden County.
