My name is Scott Policastro and I am a lifetime resident of Monmouth County.
Getting rid of ticks (and mosquitoes) is personal to me. When I was 19 years old I had a “mysterious” disease that kept me bed ridden and out of work for a year. Doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Overtime I slowly started to get well enough to work again. And I didn’t think much of it. I had pain constantly in my body and a weak immune system. In 2014, I was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease and some coinfections such as Bartonella and Babesia.
In 2012 after my wife had our daughter, she started experiencing joint pain and headaches. Some days she could barely get out of bed. In 2014 she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and Bartonella.
My son is a typical boy. Loves to be outside, running around. I have pulled ticks off him before and didn’t think much of it until my wife and I were diagnosed. He would complain of being tired and sore. In 2018, my son tested positive for Lyme disease.
In a family of 4, 3 of us have tested positive for Lyme disease and it has been a battle for us ever since.
Getting rid of ticks (and mosquitoes) to allow people to enjoy their yard without worry of disease is something that is important to me.
